ONE-DAY DIY COURSE
Always handing money to tradesmen with that nagging feeling you could have done it yourself? Well, this is the course for you!
Learning how to take control of essential DIY in your own home has suddenly become a whole lot easier and whole lot more fun. We are running a series of one day courses to teach people like you how to get to grips with all aspects of home maintenance.
We will take you through a number of lessons which will give you the confidence to tackle numerous tasks in the home, from shelf and mirror installation to hanging those blinds – from the locks on your front door to unblocking the kitchen sink.
You’ll gain confidence in how to drill into different types of walls and what fittings to use. We’ll tell you what tools you need, how to use them and where to buy them. Very quickly you’ll build a familiarity with things you thought were for tradesmen only – and save money in the process.
Course information
You will be learning in a small group (max 6 people) to ensure our full attention for the tasks in play. We do suggest that you make some comments on the booking form regarding the particular skills you want to learn, though please bear in mind we have a particular routine which we need to adhere to within reason.
Below is a list of Topics covered:
- Fire extinguishers, smoke alarms etc.
- Burglary prevention: keys, locks etc.
- Basic plumbing issues
- Basic electrical issues
- Lighting types: LED, strip etc.
- Blinds and curtain hanging
- Putting up shelves, cabinets etc.
- Tools: what you need – the good and the bad
- Wood: plywood, mdf etc. – what to use and where
- Paint: learn the different types
- Glues: what to use
- Tips, tricks and general useful information
Important information
Regarding dress, you should wear old trousers, a shirt or T-shirt, jersey, trainers or similar, and hair protection if required. We will supply aprons, gloves, ear and eye protection.
The cost of the course is £144.00 per person and it runs from 9.45am to 4.30pm. At present we are operating on Fridays. The address of the venue:
Acorn Hall, 1 East Row, Ladbroke Grove, London W10 5AW
Regarding transport to the hall, please bear in mind there is no off-street parking. The charge is £2.00 per hour with a limit of 10 hrs. (If you can double up with friends so much the better) Otherwise there are numerous buses that run up Ladbroke Grove. (A seven minute walk).
* There is a nice cafe across the road for food etc or do bring a pack lunch. We will supply tea, coffee etc.
Do bear in mind that our course is a perfect Birthday or Wedding present, and will always be a useful store of knowledge in the push button world of today.
